Hurricane Idalia Relief Efforts

Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm early Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023. It was reported to be the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the Big Bend region in more than 125 years. We are saddened to hear reports of flooding in many areas along the Gulf Coast and more than 300,000 homes left without power.

The Adventist Community Services and Disaster Response department has mobilized more than a dozen volunteers and staff, who are standing by and are prepared to respond as soon as they receive clearance. In coordination with the State of Florida, as was done with Hurricane Ian, a warehouse will be established close to affected areas to provide essential aid.

As we continue our relief efforts, we ask the Lord for His guidance, strength, and peace. Please, join us in prayer for all those affected, and in a special way for our Camp Kulaqua, as it was in the hurricane’s path and sustained some damage. We pray also for our brothers and sisters in Georgia as the storm heads north.

We will update on further hurricane relief efforts as soon as more information is gathered. Stay up to date with Hurricane Idalia news and more via our website and social media.
