January 19

January 19, 2024 , 8:00 am - 4:35 pm

Spanish
Friday, January 19 – Job 25, 26

Study questions:
    1. How important are the words of chapter 25?
    2. Is Job’s response in chapter 26 out of place, or did Job understand Bildad’s sarcasm?
Reflection:
Job’s friend speaks truth in chapter 25, God is great and just, and no human can appear righteous before Him.
However, there are times when the truth should not be stated, either because it is obvious or because it is not the right time to be accepted. When sincerity hurts the innocent, “truth” becomes a lie because it becomes an instrument of the enemy to inflict pain.

Jesus told his disciples just before his arrest,
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. John 16:12
Telling the truth at the right time requires the wisdom to which we should all aspire.
Job responds masterfully to Bildad, his friend. He asks important questions,
2 “How have you helped him who is without power?
How have you saved the arm that has no strength?
3 How have you counseled one who has no wisdom?
And how have you declared sound advice to many? 26:2,3
Then he asks a couple more very important questions,
4 To whom have you uttered words?
And whose spirit came from you? 26:4
“And whose spirit came from you?” is a great question that we should ask ourselves before opening our mouth to blame, to criticize, or to “tell the truth”, since by telling the truth wrongly inspired, we can hurt and discourage somebody, thus becoming an instrument of the enemy.
Words matter. Salomon said,
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth,
And adds learning to his lips. Proverbs 16:23
“Christ knows what to say to the weary, Isaiah 50:4; and his ministers should not grieve those whom God has not saddened. We are often disappointed by the expectations of friends who should comfort us; but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, never errs or fails in his aim.” HMBC
A Christian reveals true humility by showing the gentleness of Christ, by being always ready to help others, by speaking kind words and performing unselfish acts, which elevate and ennoble the most sacred message that has come to our world. LS 86
When dealing with others it is more important to love and to understand than to analyze or advise. Compassion produces greater results than criticism or blame.
It is my prayer that we be sanctified by the truth, that the Holy Spirit my use our lips to say the right thing, the right way, at the right time.

May God grant you a very blessed day.
