January 26

January 26, 2024 , 8:00 am - 4:35 pm

Spanish
Friday, January 26 – Job 39, 40

Study questions:
    1. Why does the ostrich treat her young harshly, as if they were not hers? Job 39:13-17
    2. What was Job’s attitude towards God’s admonition? Job 40:4,5
Commentary and reflection:
The obvious answer to God’s questions is “no”, no one else can design as He has designed, create as He has created, give life as He has given it. The diversity, greatness and beauty of creation bears witness to His wisdom and power. They also testify of His love.

“Nature and revelation alike testify of God’s love. Our Father in heaven is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature. Think of their marvelous adaptation to the needs and happiness, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator’s love.” SC 9
He speaks to Job from a whirlwind, amidst the storm he still speaks to us.
This is idea God wants to communicate, if we cannot fully understand creation, how can we attempt to understand the Creator? Human understanding cannot grasp his wisdom. In difficult times, we should not question our loving heavenly Father, but implicitly trust in Him.
“Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?
He who rebukes God, let him answer it.” Job 40:2
During the time of trial, The Lord kept silent. When he finally spoke, Job listened to Him and repented. He proved to be humble. Previously he spoke up impulsively out of his pain and being provoked by his friends; but now he really trusted, and The Lordh considered him righteous.
It was difficult for him, as it would be for anyone facing such trial, but it is good to acknowledge the grace of God in any and all situations life may present.
Paul says of his experience,
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to [b]buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-9
May God grant you and your family a very blessed day
