Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
As this week progress and the rain/storm probability gets stronger I find these words comforting. Since we don’t know about tomorrow or the next day we have God’s word to trust to pull us through the storms.
*In your Christian walk of faith you will go through some tough times, but remember storms never last forever. In the midst of the storm seek the Lord and run unto Him for shelter. He will protect and help you endure.
Don’t think about the bad weather, but instead seek peace through Christ. Meditate on His promises and be strong. The sun doesn’t always have to be out to give the Lord thanks so continue to give Him praise.
Draw closer to the Lord with prayer and know that His presence is near. Be still, God will comfort and provide for you. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Windsocks Bible Craft
As we often realize during storm season, a storm can be terrifying. It is a time that can test our faith. Children can learn more about facing the storms of life with the help of this wind sock Bible craft!
Material
– Empty cylinder-shaped boxes such as oatmeal or Pringle potato chip boxes, 1 for each child
– Construction paper
– Yarn or strong string
– Plastic grocery bags
– Scissors
– Hole punch (if hole punch is not available use the sharp end of scissors to make holes.)
Introduction
A windsock is designed to show us wind direction and relative wind speed. They are used at airports and in other windy locations. When the windsock is not moving very much, we know it will not be a windy day. But windsocks that are flying all the time tell us there is windy weather ahead.
Jesus talked about our “storms of life.” In Mark 13:28
Steadfast & Immoveable
Take a ping Pong ball and place it in the funnel. Have a student hold the funnel in their mouth with their head tilted back, and blow hard. (This is an experiment about Bernouli’s principle) The ball will spin, but not be blown out of the funnel. When we stand steadfast and immoveable, knowing exactly where we want to go with our lives and determined to live our lives by the teachings of the Savior, we will not be taken of our course when the winds off the world blow.
