ROBERT G. NICKELL ORDAINED
Robert actively competed on sport teams from grade 6 until his senior year in high school. After high school, Robert earned his living as the owner of a landscape construction business, managing restaurants, and playing in garage bands. Robert looks back on this time and shares that he was both in and of the world.
The 9/11 attack on America changed Robert’s direction. The dramatic decrease in business and the hotel’s occupancy where he worked at the time caused Robert to move from Portland, Oregon, to San Antonio, Texas. Robert affirms how the attack on America forced him to consider God and to ask questions about life, creation, death, and whether Jesus was real.
Robert wholeheartedly desired certain questions to be answered, and God didn’t let him down. God’s answers, ways, and timing are perfect! Robert soon found himself back home in Oregon, helping his mom take care of his dad, and learning of God’s love and plan for his life at the little Seventh-day Adventist church he grew up in as a child.
Robert connects well, as many do, with the Prodigal Son story found in Luke, and is so amazed and thankful to know he is a child of the King. Robert now works for Adventist Health Systems and serves at Florida Hospital Waterman as Senior Chaplain. He and his wife, Amy, have two sons: Jonathan (16) and Evan (12) (stepsons for Robert), and two daughters: Noelle (6) and Rebecca (4).
